Operation Wounded Warrior run to Balboa, CA took place this year on the 1st - 4th of Oct, 2009. That was a Thur - Sun run.
Thur (travel to CA), Fri (Balboa Naval Hospitals), Sat (Riders invade San Diego/SeaWorld) and Sun (travel home). A great
time was had by everyone. We visited with the service personnel and staff at Balboa, spent a day at Sea World and came
away with that wonderful feeling that only comes from seeing the smiles and hearing the words of the young men and
women who are serving this country and making great sacrifices.
Operation Wounded Warrior 2009

We received a wonderful send-off at Founder's Park in
Queen Creek, AZ. Proclamations were read by towns, cities
and even the State of Arizona. Operation Wounded Warrior
weekend was on its way to bringing Thanks, Welcome
Homes and off course the many donations for our troops.
Upon our arrival at Balboa, San Diego, we were greeted by staff, wounded troops and even riders from the local area. Of course, with
all functions in life, there have to be more proclamations and speeches. The University of Phoenix, State of Arizona, City of Yuma,
City of San Luis, City of Somerton, Town of Wellton, Town of Queen Creek, Yuma County and the City of San Diego all proclaimed the
weekend of the 1st - 4th of Oct as OPERATION WOUNDED WARRIOR WEEKEND. Of course, the Admiral got a ride pin!
The Queen Creek Seniors helped again this year with Lap Blankets, Pajama Bottoms, Booties and more. To our surprise, more of the
troops needed the Lap Blankets than was expected. WHY? BABY BOOM. They needed baby blankets.
All work and no play make for a boring life,
being in San Diego and enjoying the cooler
weather.
We wish to thank the University of Phoenix
(Military Division) for their assistance this
year. They supported, raised funds and
enjoyed the ride as well.
We would also like to thank Mike Tripp from
the UoP for being an outstanding
photographer and supplying us with some
great memories through his efforts. Thanks.
